Really interesting argument! I would counter that the interpretation of many experiences as negative is simply an illusion created by the left brain. Mental suffering can often be negated by engaging the right brain through movement-based activities, mindfulness, and gratitude. One could also argue that the goal to alleviate human suffering could provide an impetus to live, instilling purpose in an otherwise meaningless existence.
